Our industry is working harder than ever to reduce the amount of waste we generate for our landfills.

There’s lots of valuable metals in the things we throw away. Copper in old wiring, iphones have platinum, silver and even gold that can be reused and repurposed again. Last year Apple recovered more than a ton of gold from recycling discarded iPhones, iPads, computers – so it makes environmental and financial sense to recycle.

We’re finding new purposes for old equipment and using items that we can reuse over and over again – this includes the minerals we use to make solar panels. We’re also recycling the waste we create from our operations, like domestic waste from our camps, wastewater from our mines, and even mine tailings.

Have a look at some of the resources and minerals we are recycling and how we’re doing it.

Some more work we're doing in this area:

Mining is quite a resource and energy intensive process. It can take a lot of work to get the minerals we need…

We often refer to exploration as the backbone of our industry. It is one of the most important…
